Where is Spring?

We have had 80 degree days and then we have had 30 degree days. Today I got some snow mixed with rain while cleaning my first house ( had 4 today). Kecia broke her ankle a month ago so I am cleaning on my own. We had such a system down pat- we could do no wrong. By myself, I just listen to my Ipod and go from here to there wondering when I will finish a house.

My friend Joe is still in Afghanistan. 60 days left. The best friend I ever had. I miss him. What fun times we had in Weston and Boston for that matter :)

Sage and Ivy both went to bed tonight at 6:30p. They have never been to bed that early since the day they were born. Girls.... DRAMA.... they spent the day at their Mimi's and I didn't get them until 4:30 so they were worn slick. She spoils them.

Tomorrow 2 more houses to clean by my self and then Saturday Sage has two soccer games. One at 9a and one at 11a. She always does really well on the first game and then the second game she is like "what am I doing here, I am worn out"

Tyler has been in Salina Kansas this week. I am sick, the kids are sick, Tyler is in Salina and has Strep Throat. What a healthy family.

I haven't written in so long. I have been so busy. Ivy is so energetic. She is talking a lot. She is saying NO all the time. "Ivy, do you want a drink-NO! Ivy do you want a cookie- NO! She is so funny. She shakes her head and then says NO. She says Mommy, which is funny because Sage has always called me Mamma. She says Daddy, Sagie, woogie (her blanket) night night, Mimi, doggy, kitty cat. She doesn't say many words but she understands everything. No matter what we say she knows exactly what we are saying. She responds to it all.

I can't wait to see what the future brings!

What a year!

It's so hard to believe that one year ago today I was at North Kansas City hospital visiting my newborn every hour or so to nurse her while she stayed in the NICU. What a terrifying time for Tyler and I and our whole family. Little Miss Ivy was born sick. The worst part is no one knew she was sick for 12 hours and then our worst fear came true. 12 days in NICU getting spinal taps and given antibiotics to fight an infection.

Thank the Lord she was infection free after 12 days and we were able to take her home. Poor Sage not understanding why Mommy couldn't come home and I am so thankful for everyone who came and all the prayers we received. We love you! Who would have thought one year later she would be so big! 1 year old and wearing 2T clothes!

Ivy's first birthday was so much fun. She wasn't into the present opening so much as the cake. She ate most of hers, with Sage's help and then ate Sage's cake right off her plate. Ivy had quite a turnout. She is really the best baby. Always smiling and such a sense of personality and humor already.

Here are a few pics from her year in film.

Ready for 2009!!

Well how blessed our family is. Christmas was a wonderful time. Unfortunately, not on purpose but we have realized that our kids are spoiled rotten brats. We swore that this would "never happen to us" but I am telling you it has happened. Ivy is a bit too young but she is gonna learn from the best!

We spent Christmas Eve with my family. We went to Mom and Joe's Christmas Eve night and then to Cindy's. We had a great time. We woke up Christmas morning and Sage found a super cool pink bike and a Hannah Montana purse. Ivy found a pink Little People bus full of "little people" and they both got tons more toys and clothes from us.

Christmas afternoon we drove to St. Louis and had a great car trip. Ivy did so good turned around to the front in her car seat. She thought she was hot stuff. She was finally able to see where we were going.

We were in St. Louis 2 nights with our great family and then had to come home because Tyler had to fly back to LA for work.

Thank you to all of our friends and family, we love you all and appreciate you so much.

Happy New Year!!

Took the girls to see Santa Claus this weekend. Sage asked for a dog and puppies and a purse and she asked Santa if Ivy could please have a teddy bear and blocks.
Finally done Christmas shopping! Friday, Saturday and all day today.... note to self: shop online next year.
Merry Christmas!!

White bean chicken chili

I made an awesome chili tonight, I took a McCormicks white bean chicken chili package mix and "doctored" it up...

3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 package McCormick White Chicken Chili mix
1 can Great Northerner Beans with juice
1 can whole kernel corn with juice
1 jar canned tomatoes, I use canned from the garden- you can sub with 2 cans diced tomatoes

  • take 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, wash thoroughly and salt and pepper both sides. Put it in a skillet with some already hot olive oil
  • cook for 5 min or so, until the center is no longer pink
  • shred the chicken breasts ( I use 2 forks as tools to shred, it's easier that way for me)
  • Put the cooked chicken, and the McCormicks White chili mix and 1 cup water back in the skillet for about 5 min to simmer on med.
  • I like to break out a crock pot now
  • Add the chicken mixture, the corn, the tomatoes and cook on low for however long you want it to stay warm in the crock pot just like regular chili, or you could use a stock pot.

This is so fast and so easy, it is delicious!

Putting up the Christmas Tree

There should be a hormone in your body that reminds you every year after Thanksgiving that you DO NOT want to screw with the Christmas tree, the million ornaments you inherited when you got married or the freaking part of the tree that doesn't light up because of a burned out bulb. But nope, on schedule every freakin year you get all excited, put on Christmas music, break out the egg nog and get all festive. Three hours later, you and your spouse are no longer speaking, your kids are bawling, and you have said F it to the egg nog and now are just slamming Bud Light as fast as you can.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Can't wait to do this 50 more years!

Poor Ivy was in bed by the time we finished so she will have to be in a picture tomorrow...
